I have a pink Gouramis and a Silver Gouramis fish and the silver keeps biting the pink is this normal?
The pink is a little smaller than the silver and it just hides behind the filter intake. It also does not seem to be eating. I just got these fish and am worried about the pink one.
Gouramis, especially the larger species, can be quite aggressive towards their own kind. You should have at least a 55 gallon tank if you plan to keep those together long term, or the Pink Gourami will soon die from constant bullying and starvation. Your only choice is to upgrade or rehome one of them.
Silver fish??
I keep my laundry in laundry bins, however when i pull it out sometimes there are these really weird silvery wormy things that dont seem to like the light.
Are they called silver fish? how do i get rid of em?
In a house, silverfish can only exist in sufficiently humid, crevice-rich environments. If these two conditions are removed, the silverfish will not be able to survive. Other measures that may be taken to eliminate silverfish, at least temporarily, include the following:
A 1:1-ratio dispersion of borax or Boric acid and sugar is a reliable bait to kill silverfish (relatively non-toxic to non-insects).
The scent of a sal ammoniac solution should drive away silverfish within 24 hours.
To capture silverfish, sprinkle plaster on a wet, white cotton cloth, put it in a corner overnight, near the silverfish's hideout. Or trap in small glass containers -- silverfish cannot climb up the smooth inside walls.
Adults can be killed by freezing, but it is difficult to kill the eggs.
By far the most effective way to be rid of Silverfish for sure is to keep an area or room tidy, limiting the possible number of breeding grounds they have.
